Many thanks ahuthnance for pointing out this piece to me. I see what you mean when you say that Sam Jordison keeps going from strength to strength. I particuarly look forward to his next piece on Dick's The Man in the High Castle. His appraisal of Heinlein appears balanced to me, and I was fascinated to hear of The Church of Other Worlds, as inspired by Stranger in a Strange Land. Further evidence perhaps of the various attempts that have been made to either reject, or re-enchant, modernity (spanning from communism, fascism, to liberal capitalism, communitarianism and fundamentalism).
